More artists announced!

The confirmed artists for the GAS FEST 2011 keep coming in. As we’ve mentioned before we will be presenting roughly 20 artists all in all and below you’ll find a brief presentation of another five of them.

George Kentros [SE]
Swedish–American violin player educated at Yale University and at Musikhögskolan in Stockholm. In 1995 he founded the Swedish quartet Pärlor för svin and ever since then he’s continued exploring the fringes of modern music. He also runs the culture club SEKT in Stockholm.

Mattias Petersson [SE]
Mattias works with electronic music, sound art and live-electronics. Angular rhythms meet noises, crackles and beauty. During the last couple of years he’s been working closely with George Kentros in the project There Are No More Four Seasons where they’ve been reconstructing Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.

Anne Pajunen [SE]
Voice artist, composer and viola player living in Stockholm with one foot in contemporary music and the other in musical theater and performance art. Her performances mixes music, sounds and words and combined with a strong visual expression she interacts with the audience and their reactions.

Staffan Svensson [SE]
Trumpet player based in Gothenburg. During the last twenty years he’s been active in countless constellations performing contemporary music, choir pieces, jazz and improvisation. He has been experimenting with both acoustic and electronic sounds and has previously played with Bobo Stenson, Barry Guy, Audun Kleive and Mats Gustafsson to name a few.

Rugged Wilderness & Mountain Man No More [NO]
Originally started out as a solo project by Maria Norseth Garli in 2009 but quickly evolved into a duo along with Kim Aksnes. With strong influences from punk, jazz and free-improv traditions the duo now creates melodic and beautifully skewed pop music.
